Lantern by Fintrens: the algo trading marketplace for India, US stocks and crypto.
Find a trading strategy, read its full backtest, trade by trade, and subscribe — its orders then run on your own broker account at the size you choose. Or build a strategy without code, run it for yourself, and — as a registered provider — publish it to subscribers. One marketplace for Indian, US and crypto markets, from Fintrens, the team behind Firefly.
Algo trading involves risk. Backtested results are simulated, before costs, and do not guarantee future returns. Crypto is unregulated in India and is not offered to UAE or Gulf residents. Fintrens is not a SEBI-registered investment adviser.
An algo marketplace, not a tips channel
Lantern is an algo trading marketplace: registered strategy providers list rule-based strategies, investors compare them on the numbers that matter — drawdown, Sharpe ratio, win rate, stop-loss, capital — and subscribe to the ones that fit. A subscription is copy trading for a rule set, not for a person: the strategy's orders are placed on your own broker account, and you can pause or stop it at any time.
India, US stocks and crypto in one place
Indian strategies run on NSE, BSE and MCX through Angel One or Zerodha under SEBI's retail algo framework; US strategies run on Alpaca or Interactive Brokers; crypto strategies run 24×7 on Binance with withdrawal permission switched off. The money never moves to Lantern or to the strategy provider.
India, US stocks and crypto — one marketplace.
Everything between finding a strategy and running it.
Search and filter by market, segment, risk and strategy type — momentum, mean reversion, credit spreads, iron condors, carry — and sort by drawdown, Sharpe, win rate, stop-loss, capital or fee. A comparison table sits beside the cards.
Returns by period, an equity curve against the index, the underwater plot, the worst five drawdowns, trade metrics and a day-by-day trade calendar you can click into — every figure labelled as a simulated backtest before costs.
Pick strategies, set the allocation, and see the combined equity, drawdown and correlation before you subscribe to any of them. Curated bundles are ready-made starting points.
1× trades the strategy's minimum size; 2×, 3× and up scale orders and capital together, within a cap you set in your risk controls. The fee and profit share are shown before you confirm.
Choose an instrument, start from a template or a blank rule, and write it as plain sentences with pickers — entries, exits, legs, stops, 60+ indicators. Every change re-runs the backtest, with run history, comparisons and checks for thin samples and tight stops.
Strategies that run elsewhere connect by API or upload their backtest in a CSV template, multi-leg trades included. The integration API covers signals, heartbeat, backtests and webhooks, with a sandbox.
Every strategy — yours or a subscription — can run in paper mode against live prices before you connect a broker. Going live is a broker API key with trading permission only.
Providers list a strategy publicly or share it privately by invite link, approve access requests, and see their subscribers, capital and payouts in one console.
Ask which strategies suit a ₹5 lakh account, or how two of them overlap, and get an answer drawn from the listings. It explains; it does not advise.
Two sides of one marketplace.
For investors
Sort the marketplace by drawdown, Sharpe, capital or fee; open a fact sheet and read the losing months first.
Put two to five strategies together and check how they behave as one portfolio.
Pick a multiplier per strategy; see capital, fee and profit share; confirm. Start in paper mode if you prefer.
A trading-only API key at Angel One, Zerodha, Alpaca, Interactive Brokers or Binance. Revoke it to stop everything.
For strategy providers
Write the rules in the no-code builder, or connect a strategy you already run by API or CSV backtest. Run it on your own account first.
White box shows subscribers the rules; black box keeps them private. In India, strategies offered to others come from exchange-empanelled algo providers, and black-box ones also need SEBI research-analyst registration.
A flat monthly fee, a profit share above the high-water mark, or both. Subscribers see it before they confirm.
List publicly or by invite; approve requests, watch subscribers and capital, and receive payouts monthly.
Run Lantern under your own brand.
Brokers, advisors, research firms and crypto exchanges can launch this marketplace as their own — name, domain, colours and catalogue.
Asked about Lantern.
What it is
What is Lantern?
Lantern by Fintrens is an algo trading marketplace for Indian markets, US stocks and crypto. Strategy providers list rule-based trading strategies with their full backtests; investors compare them, combine them and subscribe, and the orders run on the investor's own broker account.
Is Lantern copy trading?
In effect, yes — for strategies rather than people. When you subscribe, the strategy's orders are placed on your own broker account at the multiplier you choose. Unlike social copy trading, you copy a fixed rule set whose backtest you can read trade by trade, and you can pause or stop at any time.
How is it different from other algo trading platforms in India?
Most platforms either sell you their own strategies or give you a builder. Lantern does both in one place, across India, US stocks and crypto, and shows every listing's drawdowns, stop-loss, capital and fees before you subscribe. It can also be run by brokers and advisors under their own brand.
Is the demo real money?
No. The demo at fintrens.com/lantern/ uses sample strategies from sample providers with simulated numbers, and the sign-in lives only in your browser. It is there so you can try both sides — subscribing and publishing — before launch.
Markets and brokers
Which markets and brokers does Lantern support?
India: NSE and BSE equity and F&O and MCX commodities through Angel One or Zerodha. US: stocks, ETFs and index options through Alpaca or Interactive Brokers. Crypto: spot on Binance with withdrawals disabled. Crypto strategies are not offered to residents of the UAE and other Gulf states.
Is algo trading through a marketplace legal in India?
Yes, within SEBI's retail algo framework: orders go through a SEBI-registered broker's API on your own account, strategies offered to other investors come from algo providers empanelled with the exchanges through a broker, and black-box strategies also need a SEBI-registered research analyst. A strategy an individual builds is for their own account and immediate family.
Can Lantern or the provider withdraw my money?
No. The broker API key you create can place and cancel orders only; it cannot withdraw. On Binance the key is created with withdrawal permission switched off.
Money and risk
What does it cost?
A platform plan, the monthly fee of each strategy you subscribe to and, if the provider sets one, a profit share charged only on gains above the high-water mark. Every price is shown before you confirm a subscription.
Will I face losses?
Yes. Every strategy has losing trades and losing months, and a backtest does not predict what comes next. Read the drawdown section of each fact sheet, start in paper mode, and size the multiplier to a loss you could sit through.
Does Lantern give investment advice?
No. Fintrens is not a SEBI-registered investment adviser or research analyst. Lantern lists strategies and their records; the choice to subscribe is yours. Consult a SEBI-registered adviser for advice.
Publishing
Can I sell my algo trading strategy on Lantern?
Yes, as a provider. Build it in the no-code builder or connect it by API, choose white box or black box, set a monthly fee and an optional profit share, and publish it publicly or by invite. In India, offering a strategy to other investors needs empanelment with the exchanges as an algo provider through a broker, and black-box strategies also need SEBI research-analyst registration; strategies for your own account and immediate family need neither.
Do I need to code to publish a strategy?
No. The builder writes rules as plain sentences — instrument, entry, exit, legs, stop — with 60+ indicators and templates such as iron condors, credit spreads, momentum and mean reversion, and backtests every change.
Try both sides of Lantern today.
Subscribe to a sample strategy, build one without code and publish it — in the demo, in your browser, before launch.
