1. You can lose money
Every strategy on Lantern can lose money, and some months it will. Only use capital you can afford to lose. In futures and options, leverage means a loss can exceed the capital you allocated. SEBI studies of equity derivatives have found that around 9 in 10 individual traders made net losses.
2. Past results are not a promise
Backtests, verified live records and the figures on every strategy page describe the past. Markets change, and a strategy that worked for three years can stop working. Drawdowns larger than any shown can happen.
This is a demo. Every strategy, figure, trade and subscriber count on this site is simulated to show how Lantern by Fintrens works. None of it is a real track record.
3. US stocks: currency and overseas rules
US strategies trade in US dollars in your own US brokerage account. Money sent abroad from India falls under the RBI's Liberalised Remittance Scheme, with its annual limit and tax collected at source. Your returns in rupees also move with the dollar–rupee rate. Lantern shows US capital and P&L in ₹ at a fixed demo rate of ₹84.5 per $1.
4. Crypto: unregulated and 24×7
Crypto is unregulated in India and is volatile: falls of 50% or more have happened several times. Crypto markets never close, so a strategy can lose money at night or at weekends, and exchange outages or failures can freeze funds. Gains are taxed at 30% in India with 1% TDS on transfers, and losses cannot be set off. Link Binance with an API key that can trade but not withdraw. Crypto strategies are not offered to residents of the UAE or other Gulf countries.
5. Strategy and model risk
A strategy follows rules. If those rules meet conditions they were not built for (gaps, news shocks, very low or very high volatility, expiry-day moves) losses can come quickly. Black-box strategies do not show their rules, so you rely on the verified record and the provider.
6. Execution and technology risk
Orders can fill at worse prices than expected (slippage), be partly filled, or fail because of broker, exchange, internet or platform outages. When a strategy cannot place or exit orders, the stop-loss and your broker's own risk controls are your protection.
7. Provider risk
Strategies are built and run by independent providers. A provider can pause, change or withdraw a strategy. Lantern checks that published figures match the data provided and that live signals are tracked. That check is not an endorsement, rating or guarantee.
8. No investment advice
Lantern is a technology platform. It does not give personal investment advice or tell you what is suitable for you. Orders run in your own account with your broker, and you remain responsible for them. If you are unsure, speak to a SEBI-registered investment adviser.
9. Before you start
- Read each strategy's risk rating, stop-loss, drawdown history and trade list.
- Start with paper trading or the smallest multiplier.
- Spread capital across strategies that do not move together (see Combine).
- Check the metrics glossary if a figure is unclear.
